Getting crafty

It's 4th of July weekend. We really needed some quality family time. The last couple of days, we did some crafts to celebrate the 4th.

It's not like these ideas popped into my head on their own. There are so many cool ideas up on Pinterest, or just Google for them.

The first one is just 3 simple supplies, Elmer's glue, glitter, and some cardstock.

We squirted some glue to look like fireworks erupting, then sprinkled 3 different colors of glitter (red, blue, and silver). Shake the paper a bit to get the glitter spread out, then shake off the excess.

Next up was puffy paint flags. There are different recipes to make puffy paint. Some use glue, and some don't. I just used shaving cream (cream, not gel), and paint. Pretty simple. Mix them together and you get puffy paint. Again, to stick to our patriotic theme, I used red and blue paint. I sketched out a flag shape, and let the kids paint away. The best part is the room now smells like shaving cream! And puffy paint is such a great craft for kids on the Autism spectrum who crave sensory activities.

Happy 4th of July!
